After the success of the first edition of the AGORA aerosol training school: characterization of atmospheric aerosol using in-situ and remote sensing techniques, organized in the framework of the ATMO-ACCESS project, we are pleased to announce the second edition of this school. The AGORA aerosol training school aims to add a training dimension to research infrastructures using both physical and remote access. This edition is organized in the framework of the Doctoral School of Sciences, Technologies and Engineering of the University of Granada.
Target group:
The training school is intended mainly for researchers and technicians from the atmospheric field. Trainees must have previous knowledge on aerosol sciences, at least in one of the aerosol measurement techniques. They could be advanced master students, doctoral students, early-career scientists, or technicians. Good communication skills in English are required.
Please, note that the number of participants is limited to 24 (including 4 places for Spanish applications).
Course contents & learning outcomes:
The lectures provide fundamental knowledge in novel, advanced techniques for measuring aerosol properties, covering in situ, remote sensing, and laboratory-based instruments. This hybrid training school will be held face-to-face at the Andalusian Global ObseRvatory of the Atmosphere (AGORA) in Granada (Spain), including a visit to the Sierra Nevada station and hands-on training for some novel aerosol instruments. It is combined with remote activities the week before (1.5 h per day, 2 days) and after the school (3 h per day, 5 days). Interactive face-to-face lectures are planned from Monday 10th to Friday 14th June (09:00 – 16:30). All participants will obtain a certificate for their participation.
School fee, accommodation & meals:
The training school fee is 475 € per participant, including the coffee break and lunch at the school premises (from Monday to Saturday) and accommodation in double rooms with breakfast in the UGR guesthouse. Up to 5 places are reserved for students from universities belonging to the Arqus Alliance, who will be exempt from registration.
The fee must be paid prior the school, latest until 15th May by bank transfer (details will be provided after the acceptance letters)
