About me
Dr. Navas-Guzmán got his PhD degree in the University of Granada with the thesis entitled “Atmospheric Vertical Profiling by Raman Lidar”. The thesis was defended on 15 June 2012, obtaining the highest qualification and the International Doctorate Accreditation. The quality of this work was also recognized with the PhD extraordinary award in the field of Science by the University of Granada. His PhD was funded through a “Formación de Personal Universitario (FPU)” grant (ref: AP2008-02868).
After his PhD period, Dr. Navas-Guzmán had a 8-year postdoctoral stage in Switzerland (2013-2020). From 2013 to 2017, he was member of the Atmospheric Radiometry Group at the University of Bern. This research experience broadened his scientific field expertise to the microwave radiometry technique. After that, he worked as scientific collaborator at the Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology MeteoSwiss (2017-2020). At MeteoSwiss, he led his own research project that was funded through the prestigious “Ambizione” program of the Swiss National Science Foundation (ref. PZ00P2 168114). The general objective of this project was to contribute to the advancement of the atmospheric aerosol research, in particular on those aspects related with the aerosol hygroscopicity and their effect on the scattering of the radiation. In 2020, he was awarded with a “Ramón y Cajal” contract of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (ref: RYC2019-027519-I), which allowed him to come back to his former research group (Atmospheric Physics Group) at the University of Granada. His new stage at the University of Granada as a consolidated researcher started in early 2021 and his research is focused on the investigation of aerosol-cloud interactions.
During his career Dr. Navas-Guzman has published 51 papers indexed on the JCR (h-index: 24, 1576 citations). He has participated in 25 projects (3 as Principal Investigator) and attended to numerous national and international conferences with more than 110 contributions. In addition, he has published 2 books and 19 chapter books
