Dr. Casquero Vera graduated in Physics and Master in Geophysics and Meteorology from the University of Granada in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Since then he has been part of the Applied Physics department, Atmospheric Physics group, at the University of Granada (RNM119) and the Earth System Excellence Unit (IISTA-CEAMA), where he has completed his doctoral thesis. This thesis has been rated with highest grade (CumLaude) and it is composed of 3 research papers published in peer review Q1 and D1 journals. During the predoctoral period he was founded for short research stays at prestigious international institutions for a total of 15 months [7.5 months at the University of Helsinki (Finland), 5 months at GRASP (Lille, France), 2.5 months at École Polytechnique (Palaiseau, France)]. Since June/2021, Casquero-Vera is postdoctoral researcher at University of Granada and he has recently gained a postdoctoral position at the University of Helsinki at “Margarita Salas” call (ranked 1st on the projects evaluations).

Casquero-Vera research activities have focused on the characterization of aerosol particles and clouds, and therefore on climate, by using in-situ techniques. His research activities are specially focus on the study of new particle formation events and their impact on climate. He has participated on CLARIN, BioCloud and ACTRIS-2 projects, projects that started the research line in aerosol-cloud interactions at University of Granada, with marked emphasis in sensitive climatic regions.

The results of his research have been published in 18 JCR papers (all of them in Q1 or D1 journals) with an h-index of 9 and an accumulated number of more than 312 citations (Scopus). Casquero-Vera has more than 35 contributions to international conferences and has participated in at least 7 measurement campaigns in collaboration with different international institutions (CSIC, Universities of Helsinki, Sao Paulo, Warsaw, Poznan, Vienna, etc.) and he has been part of the international project ACTRIS-2. Thanks to those activities, he has established close cooperation, visible in the form of co-authorship of scientific papers and/or conference contributions, with well-known and highly-cited researchers. Given its contractual position, his scientific activity has been limited to lead projects, however, Casquero-Vera has led at least 4 scientific papers (all in collaboration with other national or international institutions), 1 book chapter, several scientific reports and has actively participated in at least 11 research projects (including international projects), contributed to COST actions, and has carried out the design of measurement campaigns. In addition, Casquero-Vera has led 6 transfer projects, carrying out the planning of the projects, the implementation of the instrumentation, collection of measurements and reports writing.

In addition to his research tasks, Casquero-Vera has 28 ECTS teaching credits at graduate and Master level at national (University of Granada, 26ECTS graduate and 2 ECTS Master on Geophysics and Meteorology) and international level (Arcadia University, supervised 3 graduate thesis). He has a training of more than 320 hours in different prestigious courses organized by the World Meteorological Organization, the University of Helsinki, the Jozef Stefan Institute, among others. Casquero-Vera has at least 4 talks as a guest speaker, is frequent reviewer of high impact journals (Q1/D1, ACP, STOTEN, Atm.Env., among others) and is guest editor of Atmosphere journal (Special Issue: “Disentangling the Chemical and Physical Processes on Gas-to-Particle Conversion”). Finally, Casquero-Vera has led 1 article in TheConversation ("Urge endurecer la normativa contra la contaminación, que mata a 400.000 europeos cada año") and has been awarded "European Person of the Month” in May 2021 by the EuropaDirect office due to his research career. He is active in dissemination tasks (www.casquerovera.com/divulgacion), has been a member and vice-president of the Council of Doctoral Representatives of the UGR and of different organization and evaluation comities.
