The Mobile Atmospheric Observation Station is a mobile station equipped with four Thermo Scientific gas analyzers (NOx, SO2, CO and O3), a hydrocarbon analyzer (discriminating NH3 with the rest of the non-methane species), a PM10 particle monitor, a black carbon or soot monitor (Aethalometer AE31), and a SMPS spectrometer to measure the size distribution of fine particles. In addition, it has a meteorological tower with an automatic station to measure the main atmospheric variables, such as temperature, humidity, pressure, precipitation, and wind direction and speed.
The Mobile Atmospheric Observation Station consists of an adapted truck with a tare weight of less than 1700 kg. The closed sandwich box, where all the instrumentation is installed, is 3.5 x 2.2 x 2.4 m in size. An air conditioning unit and a fire extinguisher are installed inside the box, and the roof has 8 perforations to be used as air inlets to accommodate all the instrumentation. The sandwich box has access to the roof with a folding and folding ladder, and handrails on the roof for the safety of the operators. The Mobile Unit has power supply, communications and network facilities, with concealed wiring, and a single-phase power socket under the chassis for power supply. Its connection to the mains is 220 V and 50 Hz, with a distribution board with a general cut-off switch, and a single-phase power socket under the chassis for power supply.
